"Cape" breaks big at the Golden Horse

The night belonged to Taiwanese phenomenon “Cape No.7” at this year’s Golden Horse Film Awards ceremony held in Taichung, Taiwan. The film garnered 5 prizes, including Best Supporting Actor, and Best Film Score, as well as sweeping both Outstanding Taiwanese Film and Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker award for its director Wei Te-sheng.

The Jet Li-starrer “The Warlords,” which received 12 nominations, took home the Best Feature Film and Best Visual Effects awards. The Best Director prize also went to “Warlords” helmer Peter Chan Ho-sun. The rest of the awards went to a distinctly varied selection of films. Hong Kong actress Prudence Lau won the Best Leading Actress Award for her portrayal of a down and out prostitute in “True Women for Sale,”(featured Race Wong) while Mainland China actor Zhang Han-yu won for his turn in Chinese civil war actioner “Assembly.”
