'Lust, Caution' disqualified from Foreign Language Oscar Race

The Oscar Committee disqualified the Taiwan submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 2007 Oscars,  Ang Lee's 'Lust, Caution'  which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival last month.

Citing the rule that a significant portion of the production has to be done by residents of the nominating territory,  'Lust, Caution' was disqualified, as most of the major crew and cast (with the exception of Ang Lee himself) were not from Taiwan.

Chen Huai-en's 'Island Etude' will take the place of 'Lust Caution' as the nomination.
