Ang Lee Wins Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival

Taiwanese director Ang Lee has taken his second Golden Lion award for best film from the Venice Film Festival in the past three years.  The acclaimed director of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'Brokeback Mountain'  won again last night for his latest film 'Lust, Caution',  an erotic thriller set during the Japanese occupation period in Shanghai. 

Tony Leung plays a government official who is collaborating with the Japanese and his young lover, played by newcomer Tang Wei plans his assassination with a group of patriotic students. The film has generated a lot of attention for its explicit scenes,  earning it an NC-17 rating in the US. 

Lee dedicated his win to recently passed directing legend Ingmar Bergman.

In addition to Lee's win,  Brian DePalma was given the best director award, Brad Pitt took best actor and Cate Blanchett took best actress.
