Asian Films make strong showing in Venice Line-Up

Variety's Asian branch provided a nice round-up of the Asian films that have been selected for the Venice Film Festival (coming up in September).  A total of 10 films make the list,  four in competition and the rest out of competition.    Ang Lee's 'Lust, Caution' and Jiang Wen's 'The Sun Also Rises'  as well as Takeshi Kitano's 'Glory to the Filmmaker'  are likely gather the most attention,  while Jia Zhengke, the winner of the Golden Lion last year will be screening his documentary 'Useless' this time.

Lastly, the closing night picture will be Alexi Tan's debut film, 'Blood Brothers' which features Daniel Wu and Hsu Chi, among an all star cast from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese cinema.

Two time Golden Lion winner Zhang Yimou will head up the jury at this year's Festival.
