Batman Production Runs Into Snags in Hong Kong

Scenes for the next Batman film, titled 'The Dark Knight'  are currently being filmed in Hong Kong, but the production has run into a few snags during its week long shoot.

Several months back the city council balked at the producer's secrecy around their proposed shooting locations,  citing potential noise pollution and traffic snarls.

Last week as shooting started property managers of many of Hong Kong's prime waterfront buildings reported recieving requests from the producers to leave their building's lights on late into the night to facilitate capturing the city's skyline in flyby shots from an airplane.  Reportedly as many as 80% of the buildings declined the request and environmental groups protested the idea as a waste of energy.

The latest hiccup comes as the production has had to abandon a plan to have the Batman character jump from a plane into the waters of Hong Kong's famous Victoria Harbor.  According to the South China Morning Post the famously busy waterway failed a water safety test.  Not wanting to expose their crew to salmonella and tuberculosis, the scene was rewritten.
