China Will Finally See 'The Sinking of Japan'

More than a year after its international release,  Mainland Chinese officials have finally cleared the release of the 2006 Japanese blockbuster 'The Sinking of Japan'.

Starring  Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Kou Shibasaki, it tells the epic disaster story of the entire Japanese island chain slowly sinking to the bottom of the ocean in a huge natural disaster.  The film, which was the 4th highest grossing Japanese film last year making US$47 million, is actually a remake of the 1973 original titled 'Japan Sinks' in English.

The film opens on 120 Chinese screens at the end of August.
