Jackie Chan puts Body on the Line for 'Forbidden Kingdom'

According to a blog entry, Jackie Chan reinjured his back in the final days of filming 'The Forbidden Kingdom',  a US produced martial arts fantasy which matches Jackie and long-time box office rival Jet Li on screen for the first time.  Jackie said he reaggravated an old injury in a scene where he throws another character upwards in the air.  The next day he had difficulty getting out of bed and had 'excruciating' pain while filming.

Chan is famous for his stunt work, which inevitably includes injuries. During the credits to many of his movies he shows bloopers and botched stunts, sometimes resulting in cuts or bruises.  Outstanding injuries during his career include a near-fatal fall from a tree in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s film 'Armor of God'  and a broken ankle while jumping from a bridge onto a hovercraft in the film 'Rumble in the Bronx'.

'Forbidden Kingdom' will wrap filming this week and Jet will join the cast of 'Mummy 3', already filming in Canada, while Chan is next slated for Derek Yee's upcoming 'Shinjuku Incident', which promises to feature Jackie in a more dramatic role than his current action comedy roles.
