Kochikame, Shōjo Manga Get Live-Action TV Dramas

Osamu Akimoto's 33-year-old police comedy manga "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo" ("Kochikame") and Shōjo Manga, Naoko Matsuda's homage manga to classics such as Rose of Versailles, are both being adapted into live-action television dramas. SMAP band member Shingo Katori will star as the hapless police officer Ryōtsu Kankichi. The six-episode mini-series will premiere on August 28. The original manga ran in Shueisha's Chorus magazine in 2007, and one compiled volume was published.
