Korean Films Vie for Oscar

Three Korean film makers were able to submit their films for the August 23rd deadline in Korea for consideration as the country's official nominee to vie for the Foreign Film Academy Award in the coming year's Oscar Awards.  'Secret Sunshine', 'Breath' and 'May 18th' are the films.  Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon won 'Best Actress' at Cannes for her role in 'Secret Sunshine', while 'May 18' is currently dominating at the box office (second only to monster blockbuster 'D-War').  It tells the true story of a 1980 Korean democracy protest that ended in hundreds of deaths in a government crackdown.
