Andy Lau received nominations for his role in both films, one in Best Supporting Actor, one in Best Actor, in the Best actor category he goes against his 'Warlords' costar Jet Li, two time's winner Aaron Kwok from 'C+ Detective" and 'Mad Detective' star Lau Ching Wan, who won the previous year in the same category.
A notable absence was Ang Lee's 'Lust, Caution' which dominated the pan-China Golden Horse Awards named a few weeks back. Like the technicality which prevented Taiwan from nominating the film for the Oscars this year, the film also doesn't qualify as a Hong Kong film despite the presence of lead Tony Leung, it is nominated however in the HKFA's 'Best Asian Film' category.
