Student from HK's City U takes prize at Cannes

City University of Hong Kong student Neway Liu took a prize for distinguished documentary film from the Reel Ideas Studio competition held at Cannes.  She was one of forty students flown out to participate in the event, held during the Cannes Film Festival.  The only student from an Asian University to be nominated,  Neway is a 2nd year student in the School of Creative Media. Attending Cannes gave Neway and her fellow nominees the chance to attend premieres, press conferences and promotional parties with famous film industry names like Michael Moore and Wong Kar-wai.

Her film titled 'Moth to a Flame' tells the story of a lighting director at Cannes.  It was one of three documentaries given awards.
