Tsui Hark's Next Film to Star Zhou Xun (Banquet), Kwai Lun-Mei (Secret) and Zhang Yuqi (CJ7)

Hong Kong director Tsui Hark (possibly best known for the 'Once Upon A Time In China' series of films) is going back to the directors chair in what is described as a contemporary remake of his classic 1986 film 'Peking Opera Blues'.  The original starred Sally Yeh, Cherie Chung and Bridgette Lin.  Tsui's new remake will star Mainland China's Zhou Xun ('The Banquet', 'Perhaps Love') and relative newcomers Zhang Yuqi (soon to be seen in Stephen Chow's 'CJ7') and Taiwan's Kwai Lun-Mei (who played the female lead in Jay Chow's 'Secret').

The film will be cowritten by Korean filmmaker Kwak Jae-young, best known for his 2001 hit film 'My Sassy Girl'.  He may also direct a Korean version in the future as well.

According to producers, the three actresses are currently undergoing training for their parts before filming starts.  Zhou Xun is training in Qigong exercises,  Zhang Yuqi is studying etiquette for her role as a career woman and Kwai Lun-Mei is studying boxing. 

The film will start shooting on January 8th and the working title is translated as 'Women Aren't Bad' (女人不壞).
