Each nation can nominate only one film for the Best Foreign Langauge Film Oscar, the top five films will be selected from the submissions for the final tally to win the award. Most nations have already selected their films, but Mainland China has yet to announce theirs. The likely frontrunner was Peter Chan's 'Warlords', starring Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro, but the film was removed from consideration by its US backers, who plan to release the film in the US in 2008.
