Wong Kar Wai Misses Chance to Make Bruce Lee Wing Chun Film

Famed director Wong Kar-wai ('In the Mood for Love', '2046') had long planned on making a film with his frequent collaborator Tony Leung Chiu-Wai about the famous Wing Chun master Yip Man, who was Bruce Lee's first martial arts master in 1950's Hong Kong.  But apparently Wong has been too busy with his numerous other projects, including his English language debut 'My Blueberry Nights' starring Norah Jones which debuted at Cannes this year.

The five year option for the rights to the story have lapsed and therefore Raymond Wong's Mandarin Films intends to pursue the story instead. As Mandarin Films' previous projects include Dragon Tiger Gate and Stephen Chow's 'All's Well that Ends Well'  films,  its likely that the film will be quite different from Wong's intended project.
