4個評論So weddings are supposed to be happy occasions. But more often than not, expecially here in Singapore, like every typical Asian wedding, trouble looms on the horizon. Why? Thats right... Parents!
Parents of let's say the baby boomers age group and above, have this mentality that it is important for them to feel like they are a part of the wedding. Some parents are more obknoxious than others, wanting to be involved in every single damn thing. Dictating everything from what kind of wedding it should be to the number of guests to how the tables should look!
More often than not, all this occurs at the expense of the couple's happiness. It gets a tad annoying after awhile, and it sucks the joy out of getting married.
I don't mean to be rude to parents who do practice such behaviour. Neither do I mean any disrespect for our culture and traditions. But I have reason to believe that they have entirely MISSED THE POINT.
The Wedding should be about the couple. I think parents can do what they want, but if at the end of the day, the couple is not happy, then what is the point? I mean, it is THIER WEDDING.
And if the couple is happy, then everybody can be happy. :)
