Shekou/ Shenzhen

First time to take the subway in Shenzhen.  Neat and tidy, but it smells.........

SO many new shopping malls now.  I'm surprised how quickly China is developing.  Hopefully, education and medical care can get some improvement soon; otherwise, I think it's not so bad to live in here. 

It's so cheap to go to restaurants here as compared to HK or Taiwan.  Normally, it'd cost us around RMB200 for a whole table of dishes, so much that we need to pack the dishes home.  But honestly speaking, beside going to the restaurants, there's nothing much you can do in here.  I always think it's cheaper to shop in HK, and HK will get the latest style.  Book store?  They have really huge book store in here, 5-levels book city, but it's a pity that I don't read simplified Chinese, and they sell a few English novels only, such as Harry Potter, so I cannot share their joy of reading here.  I just packed all the novels I got from Taiwan when I moved to here 3 months ago.  Then I bought some English novels from HK when I visited my Grandma on Mother's Day.

Shekou is a great place.  Lots of foreigners live in here as well, cos there are a few oil companies.  Not so crowded, has mountains, western style houses, bars and restaurants, Walmart Supermarket, Decathon (french outlet sport shop)....... And an hour ferry trip to HK - shopping!!!!!!!
