Can't help it, I simply love Eric Zay as a musician. He's totaly under appreciated in Japan and amongst J-Rock fans. He is an amazing singer, song writer and all round musician. He's also one of the friendliest Jrock stars your ever likely to meet. So here is a brief history on Eric.
Eric was bourn in New York (Bronx) on April 26th 1969. His parents where professional musicians so his love of music started at a very young age. He studied music at Berklee Music School in Boston before moving to Japan 15 years ago to work as a professional musician himself.
In Japan he worked as a session musician playing guitar, bass, piano and percussion as well as being an accomplished vocalist and working on a solo career. He is now working as a producer while running the independent record company Pure Records with Casey Rankin.
Eric has worked with SPAED with Masayoshi Yamashita from Loudness and Hirose Satoshi from 44magnum, Char, SHOGUN with Casey Rankin and Yoshino Fujimaru (another well known million seller band), Peace Force with Jun Sasaki from Cosa Nostra which is a trance hip hop type group as the lead singer and lyricist. He has also toured with Rodger Mcguinn from THE BYRDS, recorded and toured with Sugizo and the Spank Your Juice from LUNASEA etc. Also recorded and toured as a guitarist with Monoral and FAKE?. He is currently working with Ali Morizumi and Masahito Saito in Bloom Underground and Charlie Tanaka in Chabudai.
Bloom Undergound is essentially a Jam Band that mixs rock with ambience, electronica and trance music. There live show is an eclectic mix of sights and sounds with lasers and projections running on the stage. There live show are leaning towards that of Pink Floyd.
