Fawn Fruits 1000 Anniversary +5 days

It's been a year and 5 days since I first conceived the idea about doing 1000 drawings and selling them for 100$ each. I've learned so much in the past year. I need one more to complete 100. Currently, I'm working on a project for Geisai Miami. My proposal was to display number 101-200. The deadline is in 50 days. I think I can do it, just means less internet and more work. If I really want to break into this industry, I need to get off my ass and start cranking them out.

Chatted with Eric Nakamura over at Giant Robot last night. Got me thinking about a lot of things. The reason why I goto art shows, the people that I hang out with. I don't think it was his intention to get me feeling so self conscious but I can't help but be. Not entirely sure what I want to say about these 1000 portraits but I'm glad that I got a chance to think about it. Here are some things that I don't want.

1. Labeled as a trendy artist (cause you know, girl portrait paintings are hot)
2. Labeled as a japanophile. (Got to rep my home country Korea)
3. Labeled as kid art. (I'd like to think my work is serious business)

I guess I have my whole life ahead of me to think about these things. I know I have more to give than these simple portraits. It's just a matter of working hard and believing in my work.
