You know what, Daniel, I'm sorry, I met you at the last Hawaii International Film Festival and I love all your films (though I've neer seen "Bishonen" . . . but, I've heard of it), but, I just gotta say, the whole "the U.S. has an image problem" is friggin' baloney.

We're STILL the country everyone else around the world wants to come to and live and vacation and work, and we will ALWAYS be the country that everyone else around the world wants to come to and live and vacation and work.  You attended the University of Oregon, right?  Do any post-graduate work in another country?  Have any desire to do so?  Or would you come back to the U.S. to do that.

Sorry to ruffle the feathers, but, I am just sick and tired of folks calling the U.S. a bad country.  You live outside of the U.S.?  Disaster happens?  WHO is expected to help?  The United States.

I really hate to go off on these things, but, I am sick and tired of the anti-U.S. stance nowadays.  I don't care WHO is president and who is not.  We're a great country and if the U.S. were to be wiped off the planet, watch out because whoever manages to do that'll have the gumption and confidence to go after anyone else.

And another thing regarding Barack Obama, who, I gotta say, of all the U.S. presidential candidates, at least he IS new.  That's about the only thing I can say about the guy.  I've not heard of one single major policy or law or edict that he might have ushered through that's got any grand attention.  The others, Clinton, McCain, the other guy (see?  I can't even remember his name), all BORING already.  To me, they arleady had a chance to win big, they haven't compared to Obama, and quite frankly, I'm bored of seeing them, they've been in the political spotlight too long.

The problem with an Obama presidency is . . . this guy NEEDS to deliver what he's saying on account of: 1) he's galvanizing all those who want change [to me, if he doesn't show some kind of solid change in his first 100 days -- I mean, big, makes people go WOW in the first 100 days, he's just gonna turn off everyone; 2) the whole "W. Bush is bad."  O.K., O.K.  So Bush is bad.  He lied, etc., all the ready-made anti-Bush rhetoric.  Obama's gonna have to be better than what a lot of folks are doing to make Bush look bad (a lot of it unjustified; and I ain't no Republican, so, I don't have any cause to back up W. Bush).

In all . . . Obama has to hit that ball out of the ballpark, and fast, in his first year as President.  He's the one promising all he is . . . and I don't see a previous track record that wows me.

And that's all I have to say.

I think most of the 'color' americans and the latino will vote for him. he emphasizes on the equality beyond races.
the way he speaks full of charisma and authority.
reminds the world of the late Martin Luther King Jr.

Bush did  wrong to make the war of Iraqi,Afghanistan like the war of vietnam in 70s . Polity is terrible complicated. it is always out of our handle. The death soldiers in the Iraqi are always the poor family's children not like dude W.Bush, how can he know the pain of common people.

not to be racist, but things in america would be a lot better if young white, black, and ethnic americans were this intelligent and reasonable.

being a HS teacher in LA, there's too many youth that are just simply stupid and naive.  they cannot see life beyond each day and inside their small neighborhoods.

and i agree, the interviewer was completely trying to ask tough questions to make the guy look stupid "what?, then why?, then the tough one of how?"  but like i said.  young people that take the time to know what's going on in the nation and understand the game and system is really what we need more of.

politics is just you want to make yourself be heard and you want to change something at the beginning, then you try everything to achieve the above, thereafter you got lost and forgot what actually you want

The situation seems same in Japan, or maybe worse here.
People vote to politicians who have publicity, such as celebrity lawmakers...

WOW, the guy in the interview (BEING interviewed) was impressive! good for him for being able to answer those questions. he knows his stuff... but that interviewer was soooo rude- probably thought this guy wouldn't be able to answer his questions. but the tables were turned ;)

WOW!   I like this.  Discussing politics openly.  Down here it is a hush-hush thing.  I have not voted for the past 15 years or more simply because the existing ruling party will just walk over.  I know we are the world's biggest laughing stock when it comes to rights to vote.

Yes, it is time to see beyond racial differences to conquer the barrier of racial discrimination.  At least this will be achieved regardless of whether changes happen with Obama voted in.  Shall we come up with a slogan for Obama?
