    Sometimes you wonder what people are thinking when you see them on the street.  I hope you smiled at this guy after you took his picture; you could have made all the difference in how he experienced the rest of his day.  Not many people will give strangers "unearned" smiles.  When they stop being freaked out thinking you're after something (scam artist, for example), it really touches them that they have been truly seen by another human-being.  That someone cared enough about them to look past their immediate emotional state and acknowledge them as a brilliant human-being no matter what kind of crappy day they are experiencing.
