  • Burners in Beijing

I remember when I was 12 years old (I won't say what year that was, but I will say that it when Michael J. Fox was better known as Alex P. Keaton), I discovered spray paint and permanent markers and shoe polish (yes, the bottles with the spongy tops) and i met a herd of kids who could do some amazing shit with those cans of spray paint and markers and shoe polish and i tagged along (no pun intended... "tag" ... nevermind) and learned a thing or two.

I would have never guessed that what we were doing back then would end up being used in Sprite commercials and Nike jackets, let alone find it in some parking garage in Beijing!

Respect to whoever threw this up. I have a feeling it was commissioned, but part of me is hoping that it was 100% illegally done :-)

All illegal, you can tell by the background work. If it was illegal they would have taken more time and finished the backgrounds proper. I wouldn't say any of these are quite "burners" either, but then again I'm used to really high quality stuff living in SF. =)

this is a cool spot. how'd you find it. when i was living in beijing there was some artist's gallery that was made out of a bunch of old garages... maybe used to be a place they fixed cars. kinda dingy, but high ceilings... and a huge space... is it still around? i think it was started by a girl named ada...
