First off, thanks for reading this. What follows is a posting from Juwan, the director of our film "Baby".
Hey everyone.
"BABY" opens up today (12-12-08) up in San Francisco and is playing for a week, just for now. New cities, the number of theaters and the amount of time playing in theaters is going to be based on our box office performance this week. Basically, the more tickets sold and interest generated this week, pretty much determines the fate of this movie.
Our goal was to risk it all and make a good movie, not just an Asian American movie, for Asian American Audiences. We worked too hard and risked too much to be labeled and categorized. If anyone knows me personally, I'm about representing, and keeping it real.
I'm not about "labels", and I refuse to let the hard work and talent of everyone involved with the film go unnoticed because they think this film is just for Asian American Audiences.
This film was made for everyone, and yes I know not everyone will like it, but that's with every movie. Good or bad, my goal as a film maker is to give "everyone" an opportunity to watch it "everywhere". That simple.
All I ask, is if you know anyone up in the Bay Area, who might be interested in watching our film, please forward them this info.
