Dear Friends:

In January 29's episode of Dolce Vita, I interviewed renowned artist Lee Chi Ching (李志清). Although Lee is best known as a comic book artist (Sun Zi's Tactics; Romance of the Three Kingdoms; Water Margin), in this exhibit, he drew a series of water colour paintings depicting cows to celebrate the Year of the Ox.

His stuff is really cool -- in a few of his paintings, he combines Western and Chinese techniques to create something unique. Not unike fusion cuisine, I guess!

Dez on the job...that painting in the background was my favorite. It is a North American prairie buffalo painted with Chinese brush strokes. The animal looked like it was going to leap off the paper. Really cool!

Desmond (蘇頌輝) is a host of TVB Pearl's lifestyle and luxury-living show Dolce Vita. He is also an English and Cantonese speaking events and show emcee.

Desmond now stands in front of the camera after having worked behind it for three years at ABC, Inc. in New York. There, he worked on shows such as The View, The Bachelor, All My Children, and Miss America. While living in New York, Desmond was also involved with Second Generation, a non-profit theater company devoted to bringing Asian American stories to the world's stage.

In addition to his TV and emcee work, Desmond is also an etiquette consultant who helps individuals and companies build confidence through the practice of etiquette (www.njtrf.com). A die-hard fan of those who are polite and well-mannered, he believes that you can never say "please" and "thank you" too many times.

A native of Hong Kong who has been away most of his life, Desmond is glad to be back and part of the 'alive not dead' community.
