Dubbed as one of “electronica’s shining lights” by KARMA Magazine in 2007, DJ Syrena has been rocking dancefloors in the US and internationally since late 1999. A consummate beat mixer who cut her own groove in the pulsating energy of the Los Angeles nightlife scene, Syrena’s sound is bold, sexy and confident. Dirty Electro, punctuated by Breakbeat, Funk, 80’s, Industrial and Rock influences, Booty-shaking House and Deep, Minimal Techno comprise her current repertoire, with roots in Drum & Bass that still influence her today.
Her infectious energy heightens the experience of any party, be it for the jetsetters at a Nikki Beach club or elevating style for a FENDI penthouse party, her client list reads long with lifestyle connoisseurs and culture-savvy entities. From fashion shows to celebrity events, her talents have resulted in a word-of-mouth-sensation to perform for the likes of the American Music Awards, Veuve Clicquot, Jaguar, Activision, ELLEgirl Magazine, and Miss Sixty.
Well respected by the media, she has been recognized many times over as one of LA’s hottest female DJ’s by the Los Angeles Times, Metromix, URB, KARMA and Mixer, to name a few. Her entry into the 2005 BPM Magazine Beauty and The Beats contest placed her as a Top 10 runner up, out of hundreds of entries. Asia’s Jade Channel/TVB Network based a reality TV show, on her experiences as a DJ in 2004, and she is currently the subject of a prominent filmmaker’s documentary on LA female DJs.
She is an active supporter of women working in the music industry, and founded Selectress.com, a website to promote her fellow female colleagues, and is a contributing writer to SheJay.net. Due to her reputation, She was hand selected by the legendary Viper Room to be the resident DJ for the raucous “Girl On Girl” Tuesdays featuring the best of female bands and DJs.
A master mixologist gifted with a natural ear for music, Syrena divides her time between live performances, and the sanctuary of her recording studio producing tracks for her forthcoming album.
