  • Thanksgiving in New York

        November was a great time to be in New York, especially upstate New York. I stayed with my sister and her family  for a few days in Westchester. I was truly mesmerized by the beautiful fall colors  -  the  breath taking collage of  red, brown, yellow and  pale green trees, just like a live Monet painting.  My nephews and nieces are all so tall and grown up. Where did time go?  It seemed they were just toddlers yesterday. I spent the rest of my visit with my husband's family in Redding Connecticut. Driving around the suburban treelined winding roads where both sides were sparsely adorned by huge rustic houses in the cool weather really makes me want to come back to New York again. To top it off, my quick dinner visit to the West Village in Manhattan one evening brought back such rich memories... After all, Washington Square was the place where I took my first walk with my husband of 14 years on our first date...

    That sounds beautiful, what a lovely way to have spent the time and to stir precious memories. I love the autumn colours too, they create such calming pictures.

    I so relate to your feelings about NYC.  I was back in September. (I lived there for school and for a number of years)  Saw friends and theater and so wanted to spend more time there. Although I don't miss the cold wind whipping across my street from river to river in winter.  There is such a great energy there which I miss.  
    I hope to visit Hong Kong soon.  I am told that my feelings about NYC will be similar when I go to Hong Kong.
    Hope we get to meet some time.

    Yes, I love the autumn here more and more. Makes me want to stay here to enjoy the seasons instead of LA. Sounds like you had a nice visit!

    Fall colors can be so pretty and soothing to the eyes.  I did a photoshoot in Redding once.  It's such a nice area.  We got lost trying to find Umpawaug Rd. so we got to see alot more great scenery :)

    Sweet how your quick NYC visit sparked that lovely memory of that first walk with your husband in Washington Square all those years ago.

    Visiting with family and friends in old familiar places, sweet memories.  That sounds like a great Thanksgiving.

    That's sweet, your first walk with your husband was through Washington Square...

    November IS a great time to be in NY. The fall foliage is so beautiful... I used to love walking through Central Park, and it was so pretty during autumn with all the different colored leaves. I miss it...
