My attempts to finish a working draft of the scrīpt by the 15th may not be so futile after all. I've re-written most of the stuff at the ranch, added a night, wrote the dialog for the Clay and Devon scene at the bonfire, and tried to make the rest of it flow properly.
Tonight I'll be going through the entire scrīpt again and both getting a feel for the flow and being sure certain themes play properly throughout. What I need to focus on are the following:
Clay's paranoia, insecurity, and childhood of abuse
Devon's laziness and stress regarding the loan
Jamie's rejection of Clay in light of his paranoia over her
Ronnie's fear of being killed by Gibson
Gibson's lack of humanity
Not much left to say. I just need to keep writing.
Oh, one bad thing. Chelsea handed me the tape for the finale for the movie we shot in Redding a couple months ago, and it's dirty and won't capture properly. That means I'm going to have to send it off to a video restoration place to see IF it can be restored, and if it can, it'll cost about $200. Grr.... I'm going to put together a small campaign on the website and ask for donations in return for credit on the film and, if the donation is high enough, a free Immortal DVD, or something like that.
The moral of this story is USE DRY LUBE TAPES IN YOUR DVX100 CAMERA, ALWAYS. Panasonic MQ tapes are the best. $10 each, but you'll save money from not having to send the camera off for a $500 cleaning.
Fortunately I've tried playing the tape on other decks and the 'glitches' on the tape happen at different spots. They're not consistant. My assumption is that it's simply a dirty tape, and hopefully a thorough professional cleaning of the tape will make it good as new.
