no this isnt a third eye.. unless your speaking metaphorically..... you know how bats can see?... with eco location.. he uses sound to differentiate depths in his surroundings... he can hear the difference if something is close to him or not.. just like bats do...
when people go blind, their other 4 senses increase significantly to make up for what they have lost... think of it as survival of the fitest... their bodies just tries to adapt..
ive seen this before.. its pretty cool.. it doesnt surprise me though..
i liked the documentary... i thought it was sad when he found out, that even he needs to use a walking stick...  he seemed so helpless...
