    Man is it hard for an actor of colour in England to get work that doesn't involve an accent! Knowing your going into casting rooms and only being seen because they need to tick an equal opps box! i don't know whether to be offended or to be pro to the cause! The BBC are saying that each tv show has to have a token ethnic person in it otherwise they cannot air! And the stuff they write for East Asian actors all involve accents...as though we all talk like that!

    But anyway there are more important things in life but knowing that NOT one show in the uk has a chinese or yellow person as a main character is bit mad! you get black brown but no yellow!and the one person they do showcase on tv ends up to be selling bootleg DVDS! FUDGE-ING HELL! American TV has more East Asians on tv these days but the community here is under represented in the media! If you've ever had the chance to come to the UK you will see chinese people more or less in every major city! cause their sure ain't a shortage of chinese resturants!

    Sorry if this sounds like a wrant its not! Just was wondering if there is anyone else who shares similar views!? But is a bit of a wrant! lol

    yep, it's the same in Aussieland. no Asians in the local production but recently, like last week, there was an half hour comedy sketch by a Aussie Chinese by the name of Lawrence Leung. He is a stand up comic and if you are aware of the "Chaser" team, as the name suggests, chasing any exciting stories and then gate crash them.

    anyway he's the only Asian that is famous apart from Jeff from the Wiggles(children entertainers), the highest paid group in Australia, Jit

    BBC (British born chinese) is so hard to get in the film or theater industry... uk industry only choose india or black people. Most of BBC (British born chinese) work in chippy and restaurants.. not much chinese people in tv or theater, all i can say.. keep on trying.. don't give up... i remember Bruce Lee finding a hard time.. try to be a star in America.. but at end.. he's great star...

    yup i know exactly how it is...it's so stupid and even to this day when an non chinese hear you speak they would still say 'wow, your English is really good!'... I mean, dude, i was born and bred here mate, what do you expect? That the chinese have an inability to adapt to the western accent....??? Gets me fuming like crazy sometimes... *pulls hair*

    not in even medical dramas?   in NZ the Asian pop is about 10% and we do have some main characters at times, but also the 2 dimensional only there for an Asian reason, characters.   Australia just cast it's first Asian in a major role in Home and Away.
