Glad to be here, Alive Not Dead!

Since I joined Alive Not Dead, inspiration has been flowing through my veins at an unprecedented pace.

As we speak, I have in the works a few different topics that I wanna write about... among them are my thoughts on Coco Lee (I believe one AnD artist in particular may be waiting for this entry... *winks*), Duran Duran, Les Nubians, the continuation stories on Lee Hom and my musical journey so far... gosh, so much inspiration and not enough time to write it all down... one of these days, I might explode! LOL!

Speaking of exploding... at 4.00am yesterday morning, I was woken up by a head-splitting migraine! I've had migraines before, but this one was the MUTHA of all migraines!!! I rubbed some medicinal oil (the kind you get in a traditional chinese medicine store) on my forehead, down the back of my neck and on my shoulders, and I was still in great pain... I couldn't put my head down, 'cos it would only make things worse, so I had to try falling asleep sitting up (which isn't easy to do)... needless to say, I had a pretty sleepless time, so I had to see the doctor later that day and get the day off from work... didn't think I was gonna be useful in the office with a migraine of that magnitude.

When I managed to get myself to the doctor's office at about 10.00am, he gave me a strong painkiller with muscle relaxant, and that really did the trick... it knocked me out, and I felt no more pain... but it knocked me out so soundly that I almost missed getting myself to the Cathay in time to watch the "Clone Wars" premiere! Yikes!

Luckily though, I woke up at around 7.30pm - a solid 7 hours of undisturbed sleep, amazing! The thing is, I was supposed to meet Tracey at 7.30pm, so I had to push it back, and met him at 8.30pm instead... yes, my guy friend's name is Tracey... don't knock it, he's one of the nicest people I know... so like I told Terry, what's in a name, eh?? And yes, Terry, I watched the "Clone Wars" premiere with the Tracey who was from Santa Clara... he had some pretty interesting things to say about you... but don't worry, I won't repeat any of it here... LOL!

So in short, although my day started out pretty crappy yesterday, it ended up being mighty fine, with me enjoying dinner with Tracey and watching the new "Clone Wars" movie... OK, before I sign off today, let me just upload some pics that I've been wanting to share here, but just haven't found the time to upload till now.

Some time ago, I ordered a little something from AnD... here's a clue, it's pink and white and silver and black, and I love it to bits!! **grins**

Yup, I paid for my AnD cap on 27 Jul, and my postman tried to deliver it to me on 4 Aug, but I wasn't home at the time, so I ended up collecting it from the post office myself on 6 Aug.

Here is the AnD parcel sitting on my living room sofa, beckoning to me, teasing me, "Open me, open me, QUICK!!"...

So I did... I opened it... and the good people at AnD had sent it to me wrapped in plastic, so it wouldn't get wet in rainy weather while it was on its way to me... how considerate!

And on the forehead is that lovely silver and black AnD logo...

The cap looked sooo irresistable sitting on my sofa that I decided to put it on, and try my hand at modelling with it...

Speaking of love... this newly renovated building just opened near my workplace, and as it turns out, this is the new wing of the Singapore Art Museum called "8Q sam"... this place is supposed to be a contemporary art gallery, and among the first people to show their works there is... JAHAN LOH!!!

The day before my birthday, I was working late, and as I walked pass "8Q sam" on Queen Street, I looked up and saw this big banner hanging down from the building and it reads...

It was pretty dark, so I wasn't sure if I had read it correctly, but I made a mental note to myself to check the banner again as soon as I got back from birthday leave... so on 21 Aug, I took this pic in broad daylight... and true enough, Jahan's name was printed on the banner in the extreme right of the second row of smaller letters...

Apparently, "8Q sam" cost SGD$5.8 million to refurbish. It is called "8Q sam" because the building is located at 8 Queen Street and it is a part of the Singapore Art Museum (SAM).

This same building previously housed Catholic High Primary School, and the last owner before the Museum stepped in was the Kum Yan Methodist Church. The Church has since moved into a brand new building next door, to the right of this pic.

I haven't personally seen this exhibition yet, but I plan to do so soon... I hear Jahan let loose and "vandalised" the white walls in this former school building... except that it's all legit, 'cos that's 8Q for ya!
