    My sister Vanessa came to visit me this past weekend from Davis and it was just good times =)

    She's a chemistry major in college but always had an interest in music whether it be the clarinet, flute, piano, guitar, or singing and composing. She's been a busy bee writing away and composed 3 solid songs. Since she was in tinseltown this weekend, I haadddd to see how far she wanted to take her budding interest as a songwriter/singer/guitarist. I asked my generous friend Julian if we could record something in his studio and not only did he say yes, he spent over 5 hours of his Saturday afternoon with us in the studio (not to mention the many hours he spent after we left to put the songs together).

    What came, of what was supposed to be just some sisterly bonding, are 3 beautiful songs in cd form for Vanessa to ponder on when it comes time for her to decide what she is most passionate about in life. Be it music or chemistry or neither, she would have at least had an exciting experience and something pleasant to listen to.

    I was really touched by this story actually.  There was so much good will involved from many directions.  Julian gets high marks!   So do you for indulging your sister's interest that's just so much greater than any material gift - to actually nurture someone's interests.

    I really enjoyed listening to your sister's songs too.  So, I got to enjoy your day too :)

    Pretty cool, a professional demo!  Your sister must be thrilled.  I used to play a lot of music (and musical instruments).  Over the years, other pursuits took up the time I used to devote to music (dance, writing and learning languages), but I still have a very big spot in my heart for music.  I wouldn't give up the years I spent playing music for anything in the world.  It enriched my life immeasurable.  Whatever your sister decides to do, the music will stay with her for the rest of her life, whether she continues to play, or not.
