My weekend

  On Saturday I finally took a day off to go to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles to view Takashi Murakami artwork. It was fascinating! I really enjoy hearing other people's interpretation of his work and evaluating my own. That’s what I love about art. I can't tell you much because it would ruin it for you, all I could say is, it is outside the box and you have to see it for yourself. On Sunday, it was another red carpet and press screening at AFI. First I saw "Secret Sunshine" the South Korea's official submission for the 2008 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was a very moving film; even Michael Kang sniffle a little bit. Great performance from the whole cast especially the little kid, very charming. The story got an unexpected turn and that's when Jeon Do-yeon shine! I have a lot of questions for the director, Lee Chang-dong and will be interviewing him soon! Right after the screening, it was off to the Red Carpet! I interview some of the cast members of "Honeydripper" and it was great to reminisce with Vondie Curtis-Hall about his past work with Lucy Liu and John Woo. But my anticipation finally came when Loo Zihan arrived! Loo is a young and promising director who got a very famous Singaporean actor, Lim Yu Beng, to play the lead role in "Solos". I honestly have not seen the film yet because it was tug a war between "Solos" and "1000 Journal" which Loo also participated in. Hopefully I will have time tomorrow to drive back to LA to see "Solos".  "1000 Journal" is a documentary about people whose lives are touched by 1000 traveling journals. These blank journals were release into the world by "Someguy" in the summer of 2000 and has been past on from someone who found it, got it from a friend or signed up on the web. 'A message in a bottle' but in a book, that traveled all over the world. There are no limitations to what you could do once the book is in your hand, some people wrote in it, others doodled, pasted in photographs or added artworks. Loo Zihan also got a hold of it a few years back. It’s another way to feel connected and express yourself. This is a great concept by "Someguy" who happens to be a HAPA. So far he only received one completed journal. What happen to the other 999? Watch the documentary to find out! Thousands of people are lining up to get a hold of these books to leave there mark, so if you happen to have one of these journal, please hurry up and pass it on! It’s time for me to go back to work.
