Every decision has its evolutionaly consequences, no matter what.  The real question is what do we as individuals select to survive and continue to re-produce itself.  A song, a band, a webisode, a political ideology...etc? Every action that supports the further existence (adding energy/coin) of an organizm lends to its contiued survival.  I choose to not drive an SUV, but I have equally bad milage VW.  I am choosing one un-interesting option over another.  Its weak. Nothing evoloves in that scenario.  The real question is why have the car at all?  Making that decision is within the realm of possibility.  If 100 million others made same decision, something would die off and new markets would evolve.  The social implication is that often herds just get behind a bandwagon and follow a trend.  So be it...if you are making a decision that millions others decide to support, then you are accelerating the evolution (or possible de-evolution).
