CARTOON LOGIC: Woodies with Walter Lantz

I’m pretty excited about picking up the the new Woody Woodpecker and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection: Volume 2
- but I’m not nearly as excited as the old men in this early 1920’s Jerry on the Job cartoon.
Believe it or not, Lantz was working on woody cartoons even before everyone’s favorite red-headed woodpecker. Check out the cartoon boners in the Lantz-animated “Swinging His Vacation” from 1920.
Jerry wants to go on vacation but his boss won’t let him because business is slow. So Jerry puts up a poster of a pretty woman in an attempt to sell more train tickets… 
…beard woody…
Haha, I love how he doesn’t walk but slides around the corner.
Well Jerry’s poster seems to be working, business is picking up…
Who needs facial expressions when you’ve got a beard and a hat?
