When we break for lunch at these all-day life drawing workshops, I always try to get our workshop leader Corny to talk about cartoons and animation he worked on in the past.

This Sunday he told me about the titles he did for a television show called Mr. Terrific as well as the titles for a feature called With Six You Get Eggroll, directed by Howard Morris.

UPDATE (5/16/08 ): The portraits of the actors are not by Corny. Anyone know who drew them?

UPDATE (5/16/08 ): Upon my most recent visit to the drawing workshop, Corny explained to me further that he originally had his children create the artwork for “With Six” but the producers later decided to use ‘kid art’ done by a professional instead. So the ‘kid art’ in this YouTube clip is actually not what Corny intended. Oh well….

I also learned that Corny designed the aardvark in DePatie-Freleng’s television cartoon The Ant and the Aardvark.

There are only 3 more sunday workshops before they end for the summer - what am I going to draw all summer???

Thanks Sandra - good movie titles are sometimes the most memorable part of a movie aren't they? Pink Panther comes to mind...

I watched that film "With Six you get Eggroll" such a long time ago, but I remember liking those titles. Thanks for linking all the aardvark stuff, too. The dog Chicka? looks good!

Marc Deckter is a cartoonist/filmmaker/audio experimenter who graduated from the Division of Animation and Digital Arts (DADA) at the USC School of Cinematic Arts three year MFA program in film, video, and computer animation.

During school, Marc created the stop-motion short Get Well Soon, about a clown that misses his sick friend, a duck, which screened in the 2003 Ottawa Int'l Student Film Festival. For his thesis project, he created an interactive world of singing birds and dancing bears called castleBERDskillz.

A reliable volunteer at the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive as well as a part-time web animation instructor, Marc still found time to publish a comic in Animation Blast, and he even sold a painting of pac-man at the first i-am-8-bit event back in 2006.

Continuing to remain busy, Marc currently works as an animation production manager for Windsor McCay Award winning animation director John Kricfalusi, while pursuing his own independent cartoon projects as well.
