  • 8 days was not enough time in Hong Kong!

I got back home last night and had the time of my life in Hong Kong.  I met so many wonderful people while I was in Hong Kong--some people I knew from AnD or Facebook, others totally new friends--and each one was a special encounter.  I saw many things, did some special things and basically had a grand time from morning until night every day I was there.  I packed in as much as I could, but clearly eight days was not sufficient.  There were some people I hoped to meet, but didn't, and quite a few "can't miss" places that, nonetheless, I did miss this trip.

But I did get to fully participate in all of the Leslie Cheung activities that were planned during my stay, though there were some screenings of his films that I had to pass on as they were during my last day in Hong Kong.  I got to meet with some of my fans from AnD and Facebook, and I even got interviewed by the local cable news.  I appeared in a video of an exhibition opening (well, the back of my head, at least ) and I am clearly visible in a picture of the candlelight vigil for Leslie Cheung on 4-1 that appeared the next day in Ming Pao Daily.  (Hard to miss the blond Westerner with the crazy humidity-inflated curly hair. )

I did so much and met so many people that I did a smart thing and kept an extensive set of daily notes during the trip.  These will be invaluable when it comes time to blog, as blog I plan to do.  Some things I did I can illustrate with pictures I took, other things, such as a theater performance, a visit to a temple and the art museum, I'll have to illustrate with pictures taken by others.  (I do not take pictures when there are signs clearly posted asking you not to take pictures, though others seem to be bolder or (hopefully) got permission to take their photos that I'll be "borrowing" for my blog (I will clearly indicate when a picture is not my own.)

Once I get over some of the jet lag and my brain begins to function again in a reasonably normal fashion, I will get down to work and crank out about 5 or 6 blogs.  You have been forewarned.

Yes, it's clearly not enough, but you always have the next time. I'm looking forward to your pictures in HK. :-)

I was able to get a sneak peak of your HK trip from Jason's blog. Sound like you had a fun yet productive trip; looking forward to your blog...
