At the store, they're selling the cinnamon-smelling pinecones, that made it finally feel like fall for me! Since Southern California doesn't have many Fall indicators...
I like volunteers. I planted cilantro in my garden, once, about 10 years ago. Now it comes up, here and there, all over the garden. You know when you've stepped on some by the fresh, "green" smell of it.
The pine straw covers everything in the yard. I have never seen so many fallen pine needles as this fall. We had hot and dry weather in July and August, and this seems to have caused the pine trees to drop more needles than usual.
All of these flowers are volunteers, meaning that I did not plant them in this flower pot. I grew this plant last year and it came back from seed this year, after my violas died off in the heat of summer.
