I leave for Hong Kong next Wednesday, so I'm now spending every waking minute that isn't spent doing things for the paying job putting the Hong Kong trip together.

I am amazed at how many people would like to meet me while I'm in Hong Kong. My calendar for the trip is filling up fast. What ever made me think 8 days on the ground in Hong Kong would be enough? With all of the Leslie Cheung events? For all of the AnD folks I am hoping to meet? Sadly, it begins to look like I will barely have time to see the city, except as I travel from appointment to appointment and event to event. I will manage to squeeze in an avant garde theater production put on by the good folks at Zuni Icosahedron that is part of the Hong Kong Arts Festival. I'm also going to a karaoke night with Leslie Cheung fans. I think surreal is the only word that will describe that experience. If the planets and stars align correctly, I may even be attending the Awards Gala Party for the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and also meeting with some folks over at People Mountain People Sea.

Then there are the formal Leslie Cheung activities and opportunities to meet, greet and eat with fellow fans. A fan from Australia (by way of HK) wants to take me to the flower market to pick out flowers to leave at the various memorial sites for Leslie Cheung on April 1st. This is the fan who produced the ultimate guide to Leslie Cheung's Hong Kong--a 9 page single-spaced list of places in HK (some already gone) associated in some way with Leslie, his life and career. Together, we are working on translating all of the songs that Leslie sang in the Passion Tour concert series in Hong Kong. I just found out yesterday that another fan was planning on participating in the Cantonese Opera Appreciation Class at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum that I, too, want to attend. Since it is offered only once while I am in HK, we are planning on going together. And so it goes: on and on and on. This is going to be an amazing trip: such an amazing trip, in fact, I'm already planning for my return in 2013, the 10th anniversary of Leslie's passing which promises to be even bigger than this year's commemoration. Maybe, if I cut up my credit cards and don't replace my (currently) 9 year old car, I'll have the money for an even longer visit next time.

This is my first time to leave something here though I have been  visiting  your blog for some time,maybe this is because I'm not so confident in my English.To be frank,I'm impressed  by your love to Leslie,dear Gorgor.I'm a fan of him too..so I can understand your feelings

I am a university student  in Guangzhou ,a city near HK.I will go to HK to join in the commemoration activities on April 1 .This is my third time to come to HK for Leslie's memorial events .I enjoyed the time there ,with all the fans from all over the world doing the same thing.  I'm really looking forward to the coming trip too..
Hey ,I am sure I can spot you in the crowd through your hair and say hello^^and I'd like to join in the Karaoke night.When will it be?After seeing  the public showing of the Passion Tour?It must be a white night for me..

There is never enough time to do it all but at least you are approaching this trip with a plan and so you will squeeze the life out of the time and into this trip. Have a great time. I am so happy for you.

I had that problem when I first went out to LA. Do all the stuff that's time/date sensitive. Yer just gonna have to plan an other trip (at LEAST ONE :P) to do the rest of it ;D

Just don't stress. It isn't fun anymore then :(

Well, Kelly, the problem is that I want to do it all, but that would take about 3 weeks. I have 8 days and 9 nights. I'm used to functioning on 4 1/2 to 6 hours of sleep already, so that won't be any different. In many ways, experiencing HK through the various people I am meeting there, some local Chinese residents, some Chinese who live overseas, some Western ex-pats, is going to give me an amazingly varied experience in the city. Hong Kong already is a metropolis of many cities and many people. Now I'm also going to experience the city(ies) of Leslie Cheung, too, the city that remains from his lifetime, the city that has changed over the years and lives on in the films, photos and memory of the fans, and the city of post-2003 fan experience. After my return, I know I will dissect the various HKs that I experienced and, if we are lucky, I'll even have some photos to illustrate it. :-)

Hey, this is YOUR trip. Don't worry about all those other people. This is indeed "all about you." Do what YOU want to do, see what YOU want to see, eat what YOU want to eat. That's the rules when I go to LA. Drink plenty of caffeine so you can squeeze in extra stuff. Keep telling yourself, "I can sleep at home. I can't do 'this' there." Above all, HAVE FUN!
