    Shining Star

     For Leslie Cheung

    Brightest star above the

    Fragrant harbor,

    Jewel of the night

    Casting your steady light

    Far away – so close

Need to amend my previous submission to read: "and for those of us who love him still." I think I feel if I can understand 'why,' it won't be true, but that is the tragedy; it is true. So lucky to have so much of him on film and video. I discovered him in 1993 with "Farewell my Concubine." Never forgot him. Like most from the west didn't hear him sing until after. He is unique; "there will never be another Leslie Cheung" as Bey Logan said.

Marie: Was there no hope that Leslie's depression could be ameliorated by antidepressants and therapy? He seemed to feel there was no hope which is tragic for him and all those who loved him.

Yes, I had read that article and it basically confirmed what I had already from fans in HK and also what I had inferred from reading about Leslie's last 18 months.  Depression is a terrible thing.  My own grandfather committed suicide 25 years ago and other people I have known have died by their own hand.  Leslie suffered from severe clinical depression with suicidal ideation.  He was very, very ill.  I am glad people in Asia are beginning to understand that depression is an illness, like cancer, and not some form of individual moral weakness.

There were some heartbreaking news about Leslie these days, I wonder if you knew about this one yet, Marie.

    Here is the link: http://asianfanatics.net/forum/topic/746454-leslie-cheungs-last-lunch-conversation-exposed-want-to-die-most-direct-way-is-to-jump-off-a-building/

It hurt me a lot when I've read this article for the first time. But somehow, I think it would help us to clear some rumors  :<

I hate to remember a D/D but it's inevitable.  Sometimes I wonder how many meds have prevented suicides and how many (and their misuse) have caused them.
