• 'The Blood Bond' Experience - Conclusion & Reflection

  I have so many memories of this film production, but I just wanted to give a little insight in how this experience felt.  Many of my friends and family back home (Minnesota) don't know exactly what happened and asked me on more then one occasion to write about it. So there it is.
  
  These are my recollections and I'll just conclude with a few more fond memories. 
  
  
  
  
  The filming of the Bagwan speech scene was incredible, not only was it the scene that Ken and I had discussed thoroughly, but it was also beautiful to see how a village comes together. Just like in the scene everyone came together for a good cause and they were so kind to us.
  
    
  
  Setting up the background setting for Jessie's (Jennifer) picture taking was fun!
  
  
  
  The PLM Camp Scenes were fun, because it was the scene that I helped Simon on and
  the one that I got to do some re-writing.  Not sure how much of it was actually used but
  it was an honor regardless.
  
  
  
  Since moving to Hong Kong I didn't know a lot of people who I could really be totally
  myself around.  Someone who shared my passion as well as my culture, exception being
  Francis Chan, my HK homie, and one hell of a Radio DJ, we met on an acting gig in Macau
  and I was glad he was part of The Blood Bond too!  He plays one of the PLM that attacks
  Tremayne (Micheal)in the forest.
  
  
  
  It was great to always have something to eat.  On more then one occasion I tried
  what some of the crew had.  This was pancakes and congee....actually it wasn't too bad.
  
  
  
  That night we had pizza that was de bomb!  Thanks Henry.
  
  
  
  Thomas and Lawrence. Both these guys were real class.  I knew Thomas from a teaching gig, in fact I think I interviewed him. I could tell then he was super cool.  We shared a lot of good times and he plays one hell of a bartender.  It wouldn't have been as good of a time on set without him.
  Same goes for Lawrence, he's built like a machine~perfect for his role.  Can't thank these guys enough for their friendship to Julia and me.
  
  
  
  Christine Ip and Ridwan.  Christine and I had been working at Bey's from the get go.  Are
  relationship has gotten much stronger and we helped each other out all the time.  She is
  someone who can pretty much do anything she sets out to.  I know for a fact that it was
  because of her (well mostly) that everything turned out so good.  She rocks!
  
  The day Ridwan (a.k.a. Brando -Marlon) came to The Blood Bond set and begin to do his part (s) he made everyone else a little more better.  We grew super close in just a few weeks together.  He is very smart and such a caring guy. 
  
  
  
  He went out of his way for everybody.  He was perfect for his role and he brought the team so much with his effort!  He had a real enthusiasm that can't be bought or duplicated.  For sure the Rid and I are going to work together again!

  For my gun fight I specifically asked Ridwan, who was military trained to train me on how to use a gun properly including the tactics, stance, emotions, etc. Before that I've only seen movies.
  Ridwan and I also got to help Micheal come up with some ideas for the final hospital gun fight.  Again, we'll see what is kept and what is left on the editing floor...computer hard drive.

  My wife Julia (then girlfriend) made a few trips to visit me in China, having her support was perfect, but having her on set was 'icing on the cake.'  She's remarkable and I owe so much to
  her.  She found her way around the sets and developed friendships with members of the crew and cast easily.  Whenever she was around I was so excited and can only 'kiss the skies' for everything I love being in one place.  She also got to make a few appearances in the film.  Thank you Bey for doing that.

  I remember hearing somewhere about how Chow Yun Fat treats everyone on a set the same from the Director to the Production Assistants. I have not worked with him yet so I don't know if that's true, but I like that work ethic and am reminded of it with each production I am part of.

  This never would have happen had it not been for Bey Logan and Micheal Biehn.  Your professionalism and passion I have and will continue to always admire and strive to achieve in my own pursuit.
