i have been drawing and drawing. thinking a lot also about what my work is meaning to me these days. after catching wind of, and completing a few commercial jobs, i am hopeful to be faced once again with the reality of my personal work.
the air in the studio has been nice recently. because of it, my work has become more introspective. i look hard inside because it's important for me that people see and feel something genuine in my work.
if i call it, personal work- i only want to create things that are an extension of the state of my being, whatever it may be at the time. i am in hope of achieving an audience that has an interest in what lies beneath my work than those who are only looking for a pretty picture.
i think after all, these people are the ones who understand my work best. because they are the ones that take the time to get to know and create relationships with the work. instead of glancing over it, they parallel in another way- the kind of relationship that is involved in creating the piece itself.
in this way, i am happiest.
as it's an expression for me to create work, i wish for my work to invoke expression in others. and if so, though we may be strangers- we'll both know that, somewhere, someone understands and (more importantly,) relates.
also, i ate a ton of green onion today.
