Chang Chen - Struggling for The Spotlight

Taiwanese actor Chang Chen has been acting for 16 years, since his first film role in Edward Yang's critically acclaimed 'A Bright Summer's Day'.  While still young at only 31 years old,  Chang has built up a very respectable list of movies, including working with some of Asian cinema's most respected directors and producers including Wong Kar Wai and Hou Hsiao-hsien.  He is perhaps best known internationally for his role in Ang Lee's 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'.

The drawback of working on large productions with famous directors is the fact that he is best known for his supporting roles and not for his leads.  Not that being overshadowed by the likes of Tony Leung, Leslie Cheung or Chow Yunfat is something to lament about...

Chang is currently promoting his latest film 'Blood Brothers', produced by John Woo and costarring Daniel Wu and Hsu Chi,  and is among the cast list for John Woo's eagerly awaited 'The Battle of Red Cliff'.
