Rush Hour 3 Beats out Simpsons and Bourne

The third teaming of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in the 'Rush Hour' series has made a strong opening,  taking in an estimated US$50 million in the US Box Office.  It beat out last week's leader 'The Bourne Ultimatum' which still managed to make over $33 million in its second weekend.   The Simpsons slipped to third with $11 million. 

'Rush Hour 3's total is actually smaller than 'Rush Hour 2's $67 million opening in 2001 and far short of the 100+ million dollar openings of this year's biggest sequels (Spider-Man 3, Pirates 3, etc) but Rush Hour is the last summer blockbuster on the schedule, so it will not face as much competition from upcoming films in the next few weeks.

Rush Hour opens this Thursday in Hong Kong, but was rejected by Mainland authorities for release in Mainland China.
