Like many countries in similar situations, there has been a lot of talk from government officials about different plans and programs to rejuvinate the industry. But thus far few have been successfully implemented, if implemented at all. The programs in place so far seem more congratulatory than anything else - giving award winning film makes a US$1.2 million subsidy if they make another film in Taiwan within 2 years of winning a major international award.
Meanwhile promised tax subsidies and other assistant programs have not yet been successfully developed.
