Well, well, well...that subject line worked pretty well didn't it?

I've finally got the video online for your viewing pleasure...and I do mean viewing pleasure because the sound is not worth talking about...just turn it up just in case you miss a line or two...

A reminder, just in case you were unaware, this was the 48 hour film project.

Elements given:

- Character: Edwin or Eva Lai, hairdresser
- Prop: Lychee martini
- Line of dialogue: "What's tomorrow's weather going to be?"
- Genre: Buddy Film/Dark Humor

LOL...the first part is bang on about the date but we never know if it's with a guy or a girl, I wanted to let the audience make an assumption based on his characteristics, although I did write it thinking it would be a guy he's seeing but intentionally omitted that particular detail to keep the audience guessing.

At the end, it can be interpreted that Andrew's character starts to fall for Sean's character. Now the lychee martini being a penis, that's definitely imaginative to say the least, but certainly not completely irrelevant because the actual cocktail is symbolic in many ways; how it defines Andrew's character's personality and how it's treated with the last shot. And there was only one lychee in the martini to show loneliness as Sean's character defines Andrew's as "sensitive, lonely, and a bit fruity."

I hope that clarifies it a bit more for you...and anyone else that's curious!

i watched it again and thought maybe andrew's character admits that he is gay? as in, he went on a date with a girl and it didn't work out ... and the lychee martini was basically a penis (with two lychees and a straw) ....
or am i just imagining that?

The sound was off for several reasons and one being we didn't have someone that knew how to operate the mixer we rented.  But more specifically, at the end, the line, "I don't know what I am, but you my friend, you are a lychee martini" that line should be louder...

And to answer your question Pat, if you were asking about the conclusion, it's basically the start of a relationship/friendship.  Through their night of drink tasting, and the outcome of the "date" that Andrew's character had, Sean's character was able to define him with a cocktail, something that Andrew's character apparently likened to and liked.

Studied Marketing for 3 years and then at the Toronto Film School for another 2 years.

Had worked in several different capacities on numerous short films, music videos, commercials, and corporate videos in Toronto.

After working on two features donning the roles of Producer and Production Manager respectively, the latter of which premiered at Slamdance 2010, Thomas moved from Toronto to Hong Kong in 2009 to further his writing and directing career.

Ever since his move, he has won several awards as well as having his first HK short film, Cocktail Definition, premiering at the 34th Hong Kong International Film Festival. He was recently identified as an up-and-coming HK filmmaker by HKADC’s Fresh Wave program, being selected to their annual local competition. Thomas is currently employed at wowwowtank production house as a Writer/Director.
