I am loving Plaseebo's newest dark toy entitled "Bank America". The small elements found all over the pig hint at the corporate greed that has consumed much of the West for many years.
According to Plastic & Plush, "Bob Conge wanted to express the true image of the bank beneath the placid mask of business as usual. The bank takes your money and then shits on your dreams (the accessory is a green dump on a glass heart)."

The 12" long by 6" tall by 4.5" wide cast urethane figure has glass inset eyes, rubber baby bottle nipples and red glass heart with a "dump" accessory.

I've always mistrusted and disliked bankers, Wall St. types and other "we're just in it for the money" numskulls. I'm not crying one little tear as their incomes are now cut down to a manageable size (and they still will make more in one year than I will earn in a lifetime, but at least they won't earn more in one year than the GDP of most Third World countries). I think its great that they have to sell some of their numerous properties (hopefully at a loss), that the rape and pillage stock portfolios that made them little gods have gone up in flames before their very eyes, that they can no longer afford the obscenely expensive luxury goods that they love to flaunt under the noses of the rest of us. I so don't care that their wives will not be able to afford so much plastic surgery nor have the ability to continue to fill their closets with designer clothes that they display in the pages of the fashion mags and, on that strength alone, get crowned "fashion mavens" by the idiot editors. Nope, I think it is time for the ascendancy of real people living real lives. You don't have to have Louis Vuitton luggage or drive a car worth more than US$100,000 to be somebody in my world. Burn, baby, burn!

A 21st Century Contemporary Art Gallery in Hong Kong....

In the 21st century, a new genre of art has developed and its rapid growth has been unprecedented. The way people view contemporary art nowadays has created a new and formidable player in the Art market and even national museums have had to sit up and pay attention to this burdgeoning phenomenon. The line between fine-art and street-art/graffiti is now blurred, with its acceptance and recognition by the art establishment also bringing with it criticism and dismissal.
Adapta is a satellite gallery that attempts to bridge the gap between the understanding of the European and Asian art markets, creating a dialogue which, until now, has been relatively unobserved. We believe that the talent-pool that “Urban Art” offers is extraordinary and hand-picking each artist specifically for each show will demonstrate, educate and provide a wealth of inspiration for the youth of today.
Our first project will be held in November 2008, in Hong Kong. We have curated an exhibition of 5 UK-based artists, including Cyclops, D*Face, David Bray, Word To Mother and Vesna Parchet. Although the variety of work can be considered eclectic, it is precisely this reason why we chose them in the first place. From the famous street-artist D*Face’s two-dimensional graphic art to the rich textures of Vesna Parchet’s styled character-based paintings, a plethora of mediums, emotions and messages are employed for the viewer to digest.
With two shows planned per year, Adapta will continue to be a cross-cultural pioneer and strive to bring the most sought-after and progressive artists to Hong Kong’s doorstep.
