Chinese 牛(New) Year in LA

After spending the past few weeks back in California, we made our return back to Singapore. I think all of us would have liked to kick it there a bit longer, but it's time to get back to work so I hope to have more time next trip to enjoy all that the States has to offer. It's been over two years since I made my last trip to Los Angeles, and I was surprised to find out how much enjoyable it was this time around. I think a big reason for that is that the little ones are older and more "mobile" so we took it to the road as opposed to chilling at home.
The weather in Southern California couldn't be any better, where it was warm and sunny almost every day. Of course, I could still cruise up to Mount Baldy in less than an hour from LA to introduce snow to Sage and Jonas for the first time...
Although they were having fun making snow angels this time around, I'm gonna get them all geared up to learn to snowboard the next time we hit the snow!
Because I just completed a road trip out to Tucson, Arizona (approximately eight hours one way) to visit some relatives, I decided not to make another big drive up to the Bay Area (another five to six hours). That really bummed me out cuz I always look forward to see old friends living up in San Francisco and eating some great food. All my college buddies know how much I still crave Zachary's Pizza and Gordo's Taqueria in Berkeley, and the urge just seems to become greater and greater with each passing year. If you've ever been to these two places, then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
And since I didn't make it up to NorCal, two of my CAL alumni, Derek and Pete, flew down for the day so we could watch the UCLA-CAL basketball game in Pauley Pavilion.
Even though it was great to be back in a college sporting event, it turned out to be a buzzkill when the Bruins just thrashed the Golden Bears from the get-go.
Regardless, it's always nice to catch up with old friends and to see (and know) they're doing well.
During our stay in LA, my brother Danny Wu, who's a firefighter with the Los Angeles Fire Department, invited us to this firestation to show us what it's all about. The kids really enjoyed some of the activities from taking a spin in a real deal fire truck with the sirens running to spraying water from a firehose. Unfortunately, I pulled a "rookie move" and didn't have any juice left in my camera so I got no pictures from that excursion. Did you know that firefighters work only about ten days a month? Not bad, huh?
On one of Danny's off days, we took the kids to go fishing for the first time at Irvine Lake. My brother really enjoys fishing so it was great to see him show the little ones how to catch fish...
I'm sure Sage and Jonas really enjoyed the experience of seeing fish...
We reeled in five trout that day, and it would've been six of em if I hadn't let Sage take over the reeling duties on the last one. No biggie...it was a lot of fun seeing this little girl try and wrangle in a small fish struggling and succeeding to free itself.
Well, that's about all I gotta say about this trip. Hope you drank a lot of Calsberg beer over the holidays and hope this New Year for ya kicks ass...and that's No Bull!

Getting Lucky with Carlsberg

Last night, we just wrapped up the last of our Carlsberg Lucky Roadshows here in Singapore. All in all, it was a lot of fun to get out and spread the holiday cheer for Christmas and Chinese New Year's. I'm pretty sure all of us had a most memorable time traveling to various venues to play games and toss out prizes to the audience. Of course, I think I had the best time cuz I pretty much drank as much Carlsberg beer as I liked.
I'm not sure how "professional" that would be under normal work circumstances, but since this entire campaign was for "Probably the Best Beer in the World," I'd say I was just doin my job!

And this past weekend, we worked both nights to spread the holiday cheer with Carlsberg beer one last time in addition to introducing funnyman Mark Lee...
One of our stops happened to be right next to a promotional event for "Little Nonya," and I just loved Joanne Peh's reaction when she saw me in the audience...
On our bus rides from one place to another, we all had fun chillin and getting psyched up for the next task at hand...

So there you have it, the Carlsberg Lucky Roadshows have come to an end...for now. I'd like to thank all our friends and fans who took the time to meet us at the various locations, and I hope you all had a fun time winning the various prizes and ca$h.
i wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year, and that's no "Bull!" And now, it's time for me to start packin cuz I'm flying back to Cali to kick it for a bit for the holidays before it's time to work again!

A New Year and TVB's Super Trio Supreme variety show in Singapore

2009 has arrived, and I hope it's been going smooth for ya! I've been enjoying the holiday festivites and even took some time to celebrate with my management company at the annual Fly Entertainment X-Mas Bash, which was held at Irene Ang's abode. We all had a great time catching up with the staff and fellow artistes. Everyone had a great time including Bernie Chan from The Amazing Race Asia...
Mindy Ong was also present to receive a Christmas present...or two!
Of course, Irene and Rebecca Tan know how to get the party started so you know we all had our share of laughs!!
Oh yeah...the new Fly Jetset magazine also came out that night so I had a good time getting ribbed for trying to look so "racy" on da cover...
People were wondering whether this might be my new wardrobe at the pit stops next season!
This past week, I had the opportunity to participate on Hong Kong TVB's variety show called Super Trio Supreme with Eric Tsang. The Hong Kong artists included Bosco, Connie, Liz, Toby Leung, Angela, and San Zhong (Sorry I have a hard time recalling their Chinese names and I don't wanna get them all wrong)...
We all convened for the press conference on Sentosa Island as the Hong Kong and Singapore artistes prepared to battle it out on this wild and wacky gameshow.
The Singapore artistes included Cristy, Jacqueline Chow, Magdalene See, Diya from Project Superstar, and Benjamin Heng. After the press conference, we all set out to dinner to get to know our "competition" a little better...
After we finished loading up with nutrients, it was time to return to the hotel and prepare for filming the following day...
At last, one of the production assistants showed the Singapore team what this show is all about, and that's when we finally realized what we were getting ourselves into!!
I believe this episode is set to air in Hong Kong on February 1, 2009, so look out for it after Chinese New Year's. If you're not in Hong Kong but happen to have TVB in your cable subscription, you can check your local listings and look out for it around the second week or so of February. We all had a great time working together and watch out for everyone's crazy antics next month!
And now, I've gotta go on da road again to make some friends and spread the holiday cheer for Carlsberg!

Spreading the Holiday Cheer...and Carlsberg Beer!

Well, another Amazing year has just flown and blown by. Who really knows how 2009 will unfold, but I've had the pleasure of enjoying the rest of 2008 as the Friendship Ambassador for Carlsberg's holiday celebrations. This past weekend, I participated in the Carlsberg roadshows at various pubs and bars in Singapore. At each of the venues, we got to pen a wish for 2009 on one of the big Carlsberg Wishing Spheres, which will be released into the sky on New Year's Eve...
Also joining me on the roadshow were Irene Ang, Michelle Chia, and Fiona Xie...
We all had a great time at the various happening locations, especially when I could drink as much Carlsberg as I wanted!

TARA2 Wins at the ATV Awards

The ATV (Asian Television Awards) were held last week, and I'm proud to announce that Season Two of The Amazing Race Asia won the award for Best Adaptation of an Existing Format. I think it's the first award for the show, and I hope we can win some more in the future, especially since the original U.S. version of The Amazing Race has already won six straight Emmy Awards!
Until the day comes again for the race to bag another award, we were all more than happy to celebrate this one. In addition to various members from our production crew, some of the racers even appeared on site including Adrian, Vanessa, Collin, A.D., Fuzzy, and Bernie...
And of course, our fearless leader and Executive Producer for The Amazing Race Asia, Michael McKay, just happened to be in town to pick up the award too! Here he is with season two's winners, Collin and Adrian...
Congratulations to all the production crew who worked on the show. You truly all deserve this award!! And thanks to all of our loyal supporters and fans of the show! We wouldn't be racing around the world if it weren't for you!
