I left Singapore for Hong Kong about 4 years ago. I always had a love/hate relationship with my own country. Indeed the grass is greener on the other side.
When Kit Chan approached me to do the National Day Theme Song video last year, i couldnt say no to this project. She is afterall Singapore's icon and pride. Having imortalised HOME(the National Day theme song which became a hit song amongst all Singaporeans), The Nation welcomes her to sing the next national day song "There Is No Place I Rather Be".
Personally I love the lyrics for "There's No Place I Rather Be", its more like a love song to your own country. There is no mention of the word "Singapore" at all. We flew to New York to shoot this video. Kit also sang at the National Library and Central Park.
Notice the scarlett red lips in the video? I was given like 3 minutes to do those lips as the military helicopter was hovering above her and had to shoot before the sun goes down....why do i always get to do red lips given such short time?! urgh!!
