It's not a joke!

My E told me this story yesterday, it's a true story, OK?

He went to work on Saturday, and waited for the lift to go down to the parking lot, and he met the security guard, and he pressed the "UP" buttom, but my E pressed the "DOWN" button, cos he's going down.  When the lift arrived and showed the going "DOWN" sign, the security guard went in the lift as well, so my E asked him, "are you going UP, cos you pressed the "UP" buttom?".  And he said, "yes, I pressed the "UP" buttom, cos I need the lift to go UP to pick me, cos I need to go DOWN to the 1st floor as well."  Well, is this logical thinking?  He wanted the lift to go UP, so he pressed the UP buttom, but he actually wanted to go DOWN.......so......... I am confused, am I pressing the right buttom everytime I take the lift?
