  A first in China - a homage to the Roman arch, Chinese minimalism, Carlos Scarpa, Islamic gardens and the Silk Road.

  Residential development concept based on the Dragons Way - along the annual riverside processional route of the Emperor on his way to his Summer Palace in the hills of Chengde. Modern architectural designs referencing the Emperor's clothing and vernacular Hebei/Qing Dynasty architecture. Facilities include shopping centre, podium shopping and offices, various apartment typologies, townhouses, and garden hotel nestled on the slopes of the hills beyond.

• Wanzhou Tianxian Lakeside Singing Bridges Washed Stones

  Wanzhou City Chongqing Lakeside Masterplan featuring Residential, Retail, Hotel, Commercial Auditoria, River Museum and Visitor Centre in a landscaped terraced lakeside park lined by food streets and cafes restaurants. Concept based on a local legend, client delighted and have submitted to local government for approval, as of Feb 2012.
  
  My just-completed Wanzhou City, Chongqing - Lakeside Concept Masterplan -
  Tianxian "Singing Bridges & Riverwashed Stones"
  Bird's Eye view from over the mighty Yangtse.

  
  
  The Wanzhou lake is a flooded river which changes level by 6m over the seasons, but in reverse, to help control flooding on the Yangtse. The "singing bridges-washed stones" comes from a local legend about rivalry between a master builder and his apprentice, who tried to cheat in a bridge competition. The surging water "sang" between the resulting bridge timbers and stones.

• Xijiao State Guesthouse, Hongqiao, Shanghai - VIP Villa

  Shanghai Xijiao State Guest Hotel founded in 1960, is the largest 5 star guest house parkland resort in Shanghai. The hotel covers an area of 1200 mu (80ha) which is covered by trees, flowers and grasslands. The hotel has welcomed around 100 important guests such as Queen Elizabeth II, the Emperor of Japan, US President Barack Hussein Obama and other foreign dignitaries. Chairmans Mao and Deng have also stayed in the hotel.
  

  Neo-mannerist villa. Architecture and interior design referencing both contemporary and historical Mediterranean, Islamic and East Asian traditions. Invoking classical and fractal geometries, the building construction fabrication and stone working processes, particularly applied to stone, water, glass, timber and metal. Client is major mainland construction group, established in 1986.
