My recent hermit like behaviour has allowed me to activaly take part in an old hobby of mine. Religious studies.

I have posted a blog at my livejournal in regard to this. Nothing writen there is meant to be taken as an insult. I have a genuine interest in religion and try to be as open minded as possible so others thoughts or further roads of study are welcomed.

For those that are active in the church that is the subject of the blog please keep in mind that I am not attacking you as followers. Your reasons to believe are yours and yours alone and I am in no way trying to convert anyone . With that said however there may be parts of this post and futur posts that you may find offensive and so I encourage discretion before you read.

I find the secrecy of Scientology disturbing. I was talking with a friend about this lately re:  some of Tom Cruise's recent public statements, and some of his past statements as well. It's also disturbing that money is involved in 'moving up the ladder' of revelation in Scientology.

I've thought for a long time that many of the religions of the world have so much in common. I talked about this just the other day in a blog entry I did touching on the topic of Buddhism. It'Discussion of the topic of religion is sort of in the air at AnD.  Narom wrote a blog entry titled 'Hong Kong (1/28)' & in a portion of it he discussed a World Religion celebration he attended. It was very interesting to hear about it.

I have a strong sense of spirituality but I'd say in my case it's what I'd term diffuse, because I feel the underlying beliefs of the major religions are very similar. It's true that there are many who don't feel that way & adhere strongly to a particular faith. I feel the same way as Flagday  in her comment in your other blog--as long as nothing is being forced on me I totally accept that.

I think of two women I work with who are strong believers in different sects of Christianity, and they walk the walk in every sense of the word. They also don't force their beliefs on others, but are always willing to talk & share, and more than that they are living examples of faith in action & very special people. I see Jet the same way in terms of Buddhism. Good luck in your exploration & thanks for a thought provoking blog entry. :)

Is it realistic for an Aussie to be hermit-like in the summer?
